This position will be responsible for the successful execution of construction/installation projects. The Project Manager will ensure that his/her projects are completed in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Fire Protection Inspector - Michigan
Wolverine Fire Protection Co. has an immediate opening for a full time Inspector for our Michigan location. The primary responsibility of this person is to perform NFPA inspections of water-based fire systems, extinguishers, emergency lighting and fire alarm/special hazard systems. We’re offering a $5k signing bonus for this position!*
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Perform inspections of various systems; describe/document necessary repairs to Owners/Clients, Superintendents, internal project managers/estimators.
- Creating and submitting inspection reports to appropriate staff
- Perform troubleshooting of various systems.
Required Qualifications and/or Experience:

WFPC has installed life and property saving systems all across the country and globe, including major manufacturing buildings, federal military bases, airports, sports arenas and casinos.
Apprenticeship
The sprinkler fitter apprenticeship program is designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to ensure a long, successful career in the fire and life safety industry. This program is designed to provide entry-level training to individuals via on-the-job training and classroom education. Individuals accepted into our apprenticeship program will have the opportunity to learn a skilled craft at the hands of a professional, get paid while doing so, and often step directly into long-term employment as a result. We ensure our apprentices are field-ready by providing them with a comprehensive fire and life safety education that includes bolstering hard skills as well as building interpersonal skills such as teamwork, dependability, and leadership.
The Apprenticeship Program is a five-year program with on-the-job training and 19 Course correspondence through a nationally recognized university. Once you have entered the Apprenticeship Program and have completed your six-month probationary period you are eligible to become a member of Local 669.
Wages and Benefits
The wage rate of apprentices is determined by the “Class” of the apprentice. The Apprentice will receive the appropriate percentage of the Journeyman wage rate in the state where he/she is working. The Sprinkler Fitter wage rate is negotiated state by state, based on the economic conditions of the state. All apprentices will participate in a Health and Welfare program that provides medical coverage and life insurance. In addition to that, apprentices will start building a Pension once they meet the stipulated requirements to begin participation. Both the Health and Welfare and Pension programs are among the finest in the construction industry.
Nature of the Work
The work of a Fire Sprinkler Fitter focuses on the installation of fire protection and fire control systems including fire sprinkler systems, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, and special hazard fire protection. This also includes underground supply piping, which is connected to an integrated overhead piping system for the suppression of fire.
Safety is first and foremost; therefore, you will also be trained in the care and proper use of tools and equipment that includes pipe wrenches, pipe threading machines, welding equipment, and man lifts. Training will also include NFPA codes, inspections, and maintenance of all systems.
Duties and requirements for the job include, but are not limited to pipe fitting, running power equipment including pipe machines, climbing and aerial work, operating man lifts, loading and unloading pipe, and working with others on various construction sites. Physical demands of work may include frequent lifting up to 100 pounds in weight.

This gives the members of Local 669 the flexibility to work in almost any part of the United States they would like to seek employment. The career of the Sprinkler Fitter can provide a range of opportunities for achievement. Once an apprentice successfully completes the apprenticeship program and becomes a Journeyman, many opportunities lie ahead. You can work as a foreman, move up to superintendent or even move into management with a company. On the other hand, you can strive to continue building on the most respected labor unions in the construction industry. Being identified as a Sprinkler Fitter is both rewarding and fulfilling.
