U.S. Federal Courthouse, Jackson, MS

The United States Federal Courthouse is a 391,000 sq.ft. facility scheduled for completion in May 2010. This facility consists of (2) Parking levels below grade and (2) 6 story buildings with Offices and Courtrooms above grade. The buildings are interconnected at the first and second floors. H3 Hardy Collaboration is the Architect working with Yates Construction, the project manager. Wolverine Fire Protection Co. is the fire protection subcontractor for the project and is designing, fabricating and installing the fire protection for this facility.

This facility is being designed 3D, also utilizing the latest LEED technology. The Fire protection system consists of (7) wet fire standpipes utilizing pressure regulating hose valves. The standpipes are connected to a fire pump. The standpipe demand is met from the fire pumper connections. The fire pump is sized to meet the sprinkler demands only. The fire pump feeds (2) dry pipe systems for the parking levels and (2) wet sprinkler risers (one for each building tower) that fed (6) floor control assemblies located at each floor level.
