Fire Suppression Inspector

Wolverine Fire Protection Co. has an immediate opening for a full time Fire Suppression Inspector for our Michigan and Connecticut locations. The primary responsibility of this person is to perform NFPA inspections of water based fire systems and extinguishers.

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Traveling to jobsites to inspect/troubleshoot water based fire systems; describe necessary repairs to Owners/Clients, Superintendents, internal project managers/estimators.
  • Analyzing gathered information to facilitate solutions, recommend actions to bring properties into compliance
  • Creating and submitting inspection reports to appropriate staff
  • Monitoring progress and completion of all required tasks

Required Qualifications and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED; additional vocational or industry trade school preferred (but not necessarily required)
  • Working knowledge of Fire Protection Systems: Wet, Dry, Foam, Deluge, Pre-Action, Standpipe, Fire Hydrants, and Fire Pumps.
  • Thorough knowledge of Uniform Fire Code, Uniform Building Code, State Administrative Code, and National Fire Code, as well as departmental rules, regulations, and NFPA 25 procedures.
  • 2 Years of minimum field experience as an inspector
  • Basic mechanical skills including the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding and scissor or articulating lifts.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain certifications (including NICET)
  • Prior experience with power tools
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office (outlook, word, excel)
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.

Fire Alarm Systems Sales and Service Specialist

This position is based out of our S. Windsor, Connecticut location

Responsible for the successful execution of service testing and sales installation projects. This specialist will ensure that his/her inspections/service projects are completed in a safe, high quality and cost-effective manner.

Primary duties and responsibilities would include:

  • Maintaining effective relationships and partnerships with customers, management, and field staff (general contractors, electricians)
  • Read, comprehend, and implement project drawings and specifications
  • Estimate, bid and prepare proposals
  • Prepare project documentation; including work plans, status reports, etc. for review
  • Prepare and track project schedules and submittals
  • Selection and management of subcontractors and material vendors
  • Direct and coordinate project teams, including office and field staff
  • Tracking of costs and preparation of project cost reports
  • Recognition of change orders and preparation of required documentation
  • Assist in business development activities as required
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Adhere to all safe practices

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8 Years of Relevant Industry Experience (Sprinklers, Special Hazards, Fire Systems)
  • NICET Certification; License L6 a plus
  • Special Hazards Certification a plus
  • Fire Extinguishers Certification a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, however not required if demonstrated experience is exhibited.

Project Manager

Summary of Position: Wolverine Fire Protection Co. is currently looking for a full time Project Manager for their Mt. Morris, MI location. Project Manager would be responsible for the successful execution of construction/installation projects while ensuring that his/her projects are completed in a safe, cost effective, and high quality manner.

Fire Alarm System Designer

Wolverine Fire Protection Co. has an immediate opening for a full time Fire Alarm System Designer in our Mt. Morris, MI office. The primary responsibility of this person is to provide AutoCAD based fire alarm design. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and possess good communication and organization skills.

Responsibilities/Requirements:

  • Perform computer assisted drafting and design to support engineering services.
  • Assist in development, documentation and communication of best practices of CADD technologies, including model sharing and coordination with other disciplines
  • Manage the initial set up of models to comply with office standards and best practices
  • Manage CADD standards, content libraries and templates
  • Engage with project teams to strategize, employ and maintain an effective CADD strategy for project deliverables
  • Assist in performing field visits required to support design
  • Organize and assist maintaining project CADD records
  • Performing Quality Control and Quality Assurance reviews of drawings
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience

Mechanical Engineer - Fire Protection Systems

Fire Protection System Designer

Summary of Position:
Fire Protection Sprinkler Systems design for both new design/build and remodel projects, monitor progress, evaluate quality of design and take necessary action to keep project engineering on schedule.

Job Responsibilities:
Effectively manage the design of multiple projects simultaneously. Produce Material cutsheets and equipment lists. Work with project management and field personnel to effectively implement field changes.

Requirements:
MUST have fire protection system design background with a minimum of 5 years of design experience and be on a NICET track. Must have the ability to coordinate, plan and supervise.
Must be a self-directed independent worker that is also an innovative thinker. Knowledge of and proficiency with CAD design software and the ability to do hydraulic calculations required.
Must have the ability to coordinate plans and specifications with field installers to clarify and incorporate required changes. Must have detailed knowledge of fire suppression design, construction aspects, and project controls. Technical training and/or experience in the areas of fire sprinkler system design and specialty applications.

Alarm and Suppression Inspection / Installation Technician

Department: Life Safety Division

JOB SUMMARY:
Perform inspection and testing of fire protection, fire alarm and fire suppression systems. Installation of fire alarm systems and Fire suppression releasing systems.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Schedule inspections in most cost effective manner to be performed.
Perform inspection procedures as required under NFPA guidelines and customer requirements
Complete proper forms for inspection reporting
Installation of fire alarm system and wiring associated with suppression systems per NFPA guidelines and customer requirements.
Troubleshoot all aspects of fire alarm and suppression system including panels, wiring, and devices.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Working knowledge of applicable NFPA standards.
Knowledge of fire alarm panels and fire alarm panel programming.
Ability to work cooperatively with employees at all levels of the organization.
Ability to be prompt and courteous when interacting with
co-workers and customers.
